Pharmacists and pharmacy technicians can be successful if they have certain skills and characteristics that are beneficial to the field. You will be required to hold a certificate or degree in order to seek employment. Training is offered at several levels including the associate and doctoral degree levels. The skills that are obtained through quality training can help you enter the career you long for when combined with your personality, characteristics, and traits.

You need to have a doctoral degree in order to enter the workforce. A doctor of pharmacy degree can take four years to obtain and will cover various topics. By combining your personal qualities with training in biology, drug information, pharmacology, math, and medical microbiology, you can obtain the skills that are needed for your desired career. You will need to have characteristics such as:
  • commitment
  • leadership
  • good memory
  • detail oriented
  • knowledgeable
  • patient
  • empathetic
...in order to succeed. These traits allow you to accurately fill prescriptions, prepare medications, and work with other pharmacy professionals and insurance companies. With the right personality you can work in hospitals, pharmacies, veterinary offices, and other facilities. If you wish to enter a pharmacy career you can do so by completing the appropriate training and utilizing your personal traits.

You can train to work with pharmacists and others to ensure that the appropriate medication and dose is provided to the person with the prescription. In order to pursue a career as a pharmacy technician, you will need to obtain an education and have a personality type like ESTP (Extraverted Sensing Thinking Perceiving). Studies that are available to you can include recordkeeping, aseptic calculations, biochemistry, and labeling.

Having a personality type like INFJ (Introverted Intuitive Feeling Judging) as well as an interest in medicine, a caring attitude, attention to detail, strong spelling and math skills, and the ability to be on your feet for long periods of time are all characteristics of pharmacy technicians. With the right qualities and training, you can enter the workforce and pursue the career that is right for you by using your personal qualities and the skills you obtain through training.

Becoming a pharmacy professional can be done if you wish to enter the field and have traits that are necessary for success. There are a variety of accredited colleges and schools that offer pharmacy degree programs for you. If you choose to become a pharmacist or pharmacy assistant, you can look forward to working in a hospital, nuclear, community, and compounding, veterinary, or clinical pharmacies. Careers in this field can be pursued once an accredited education is obtained.
